I took my car to Garvin and Lidster because it was driving really rough. They said I needed new spark plugs and a ignition coil totalling almost 900 bucks, so I got those done. But the bumpy ride didn't go away! Turns out it was a blown head gasket ( a job they cant do on my car) I feel like they "missed" the real problem, took advantage of the situation and just did the easy thing to get what money they could out of me! Definitely wouldn't recommend them and if they want to contact me I will tell them to their face they have my number I dare you! Update: I appreciate you addressing my concerns, but I still feel there was a lack of transparency. When you say you 'didn't miss the real problem,' it implies you were aware of it. If that's the case, I wish you had been upfront about the limitations of the repairs you could perform. Instead, I feel I was charged for work that didn't address the core issue, and that feels dishonest. This experience has significantly damaged my trust in your shop.
Taylor, I would like to explain our side of what has happened and I want to apologize if this was not explained to you on your visit. Anytime that we have a runability issue we always have to start with the basics and what we know is bad. In this case your spark plugs were out of specification and worn. You had an active misfire code on cylinder #1 as well as 197,650 miles on your vehicle, so we also replaced the ignition coil. After the repair was done you brought it back stating it was doing the same thing and we found that only after sitting overnight the cylinder head gasket was leaking coolant in to cylinder #1 indicating head gasket failure. Unfortunately your vehicle is a hybrid and we do not have the necessary safety tools and equiptment to perform that repair on your vehicle. Unfortuntely we didnt miss the real problem, however, we had to fix what we knew was bad before there were any other possibilities. We are not and never will be the shop or people that take advantage of people or the situations they are in. That goes against our morals and everything we are about and stand by.
