Took my van here for a transmission. They said they dropped the pan and inspected and saw metal flecks in the fluid, charged me $140 for that. They quoted me $6700 for a new one and $7900 for a used one. Guy said they $4000 new and I bought one new from O'reiley's for $2300. Took it to a different mechanic and that mechanic said the pan hasnt been dropped before. Indicating they didnt inspect it the way they claimed. Not even sure I needed a new transmission now but here we are. Wouldnt recommend. *Jakob called me back and refunded me. With an explanation of what went wrong. I appreciate them for making things better. Still pretty sure someone said they dropped the pan. Doesnt matter too much though, they are honest and seem to hold to their word

Thank you for the review Tyler, we value every review as this is how we can better ourselves and better serve our customers. First off I would like to refund you the $139.78 for the diagnostic as we dont want anyone to spend their hard earned money and not leave happy with their visit. On your vehicle we did not drop the transmission pan, I am not sure who told you that. After listening to our phone calls and reviewing camera footage that was never said and we apologize for the confusion and miscommunication. What we did do was take your vehicle for a test drive and found that the transmission would shudder going into reverse, in forward gears struggled to take off and could hear a loud whine coming from transmission area. Then we took a fluid sample and found your tranmsission fluid was very dirty, had a burnt smell, and had metal flakes in it which is never good. With that being said that is why we quoted a transmission. While your transmission was still operating at times we recommended a transmission as it will likely fail in the near future with the issues you are having. While you can get transmission much cheaper at local parts stores we have never had luck with cheap transmissions. We stand behind all of our work with a 3 year, 36,000 mile nationwide warranty and we can not quote an O'Reilly transmission knowing that it will fail long before the warranty period. We quoted you the best possible transmissions that we could find so that you would not have to worry about breakdowns or being without a vehicle while we work on getting that warrantied.
